The Fair Haven Baptist Church has a very active Senior Ministry for those 50 years of age and older. The purpose of the Fair Haven Senior Ministry is to win people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and to fellowship together as Christians. This is a very lively group that looks forward to time spent together around God’s Word and also enjoys having fun.
There is a luncheon for seniors on the second Thursday of every month. This is a great time of fellowship, singing, a message from God's Word, and, of course, good food.
There are trips throughout the year. Some of the places visited include a buffet luncheon cruise on the Detroit Princess Riverboat, Cornwell’s Turkeyville USA in Marshall, Cranbrook Science Center, Greenfield Village & Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Kellogg’s Cereal City USA in Battle Creek, Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, Olde World Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, and the Toledo Zoo, just to name a few.
Operation Christmas Child is a program through the Christian organization Samaritan’s Purse. The goal of the program is to pack shoeboxes full of gifts and treats, wrap them, and ship them around the world for children in need to show them the love of Jesus. What truly makes Operation Christmas Child amazing is that in every shoebox is the plan of salvation. Many children around the world, along with their families, have come to know Christ as their Savior, because a stranger, whom they’ve never met, packed a shoebox and mailed it. At Fair Haven, we are so happy to be a partner in this effort.
The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) is all about people. Fair Haven is proud to be a part of this powerful beacon of hope. On the fourth Sunday of every month, and any month that has a fifth Sunday, Fair Haven takes the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are staying at the mission.
At Fair Haven, we believe that coming to church once a week isn’t enough for continual spiritual growth. That’s why we offer Bible Studies during the week for men and women. This is an opportunity not only for individual spiritual growth, but for brothers and sisters in Christ to grow closer as well.
We believe that God placed us here to lead others to Him and that The Great Commission is our first and most important responsibility. From international missionaries to the people who share the Gospel with their neighbors, we love partnering with our missionaries. We are proud to partner with many missionaries around the world, working night and day to share the Gospel with others!
At Fair Haven, we are blessed to be able to support and encourage the work of missionaries around the world. From rural northern Michigan to the crowded streets of Brazil, from Spain to the Philippines. We love our missionaries all over the globe and rejoice with them as God continues to use and bless their ministries.
If you want to learn more about our missionaries, there are prayer cards available by the mission board in the church lobby, if you need help finding them, please stop by the Welcome Desk in the lobby and ask for assistance. For church members, if you want to stay informed with the latest on each of our missionaries, as well as everything else happening in our church, please sign up for our emailing list at the Welcome Desk.
Here at Fair Haven, it’s our desire that everyone would come to know Christ as their Savior, no matter their age. That’s why we partner with several nursing homes and assisted living homes in our area. We have a weekly church service with gospel music, followed by a sermon from one of our men from the church. In addition to giving the gospel, we also desire a relationship with them that lets these people, who often feel forgotten by the world, make sure that they know that they have a church family who cares about them and is praying for them
The Fair Haven Worship Choir is a dedicated group of believers who serve God and the church by using their gifts and talents in the area of music. In addition to singing in the Sunday Morning Service, the Choir participates in special events including patriotic celebrations, Christmas programs, Easter productions, and more. There are a variety of additional opportunities to serve within the worship ministry through ensembles, solos, drama, and other ministry positions.
